MADELEINE McCann’s prime suspect Christian B broke two ribs in an argument with guards afterward he “threw a tantrum” because he was not allowed to smoke in the courthouse, reports say.
The convicted rapist and pedophile, 43, allegedly smeared yogurt around the cell and blocked the toilet before being overpowered and shackled.

His parole hearing on a drug case was delayed by two hours when the detainee was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
While Christian B was waiting for the case at the Braunschweig regional court, he claimed that he was “manipulated” by officials who had banned him from smoking, reports the German daily Bild.
He also smeared security cameras with yogurt and clogged the cell toilet with paper, it is said.
According to the picture, officers arrested him and tied his hands to his belt.
He was then told to kneel so they could tie his ankles, he reportedly told his lawyer.
When he refused, the guards allegedly kicked his legs from under him and dropped him on the bed.
“FILMED BY A COP”
Lawyer Friedrich Fülscher also claims to have seen on a surveillance camera that a policewoman used a telephone to film the prisoner receiving first aid.
After a loud protest by the lawyer, the district court president became involved and the officer agreed to delete the videos, Bild reports.
The judicial authorities are currently investigating Christian B.’s complaint of assault and mistreatment.
The court insisted that he fell over during the “argument”.
A spokesman said: “ The exact sequence of events is now under investigation.
“With this in mind, we cannot comment on the details.”
We reported on Tuesday how the suspect was taken from the court by ambulance.
As a source in the courthouse, he had thrown a tantrum in his cell and added: He got angry at being filmed and complained.
“He reacted angrily and when he refused to put on the shackles there was a more violent argument and he injured himself.”
Attorney Mr. Fülscher told The Sun: “The guards filmed my client on a television screen that was in his cell. I asked them to stop and delete the footage.
“ They refused and an argument began. This continued and they attacked my client with a baton after he refused to put the prison shackles on. He suffered serious injuries and two broken ribs.
“ It was behavior that was not expected from the guards. I had to call in a judge to make sure the footage was deleted.
“Yes, he got his cell dirty, but he was understandably angry about being filmed.”
The hearing continued after a delay.
Today the judges turned down his offer of probation, ruling that he posed a risk to the public.
The panel said he had committed several previous crimes during his probationary period, adding: “In the past, the convict has had crimes including sexual acts on children and therefore serious crimes if relapsed.”

Christian B has been named the prime suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCannCredit: Image
Three-year-old Madeleine was taken from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Portuguese Algarve in May 2007.
That year, investigators in Germany claimed they had solved the mystery of the world’s most famous missing person.
Christian B was identified by the German public prosecutor’s office as the man responsible for Madeleine’s kidnapping and murder.
They say they have “concrete evidence” that she is dead and believe that Christian B kidnapped and murdered her.
He was known to have spent time in the resort area and was arrested on other matters.
Last December, the suspect was sentenced to seven years in prison for raping a 72-year-old American woman near Praia da Luz two years before Maddie’s disappearance.
This means that he remains in custody even after his drug sentence has expired.

German investigators have vowed to “fight tooth and nail” to convict Christian B of Madeleine’s murder.
It came after Portuguese police officers dropped their investigations, claiming they had no real evidence.
