Wisconsin Recount reaffirms Biden’s victory over Trump

The completion of a partial census on Sunday in the second of Wisconsin’s two largest counties reaffirmed President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump in the key swing state. The holiday weekend recounts in Milwaukee and Dane counties of more than 800,000 ballots raised Biden’s victory by 87 votes after taking over the state by more than 20,000 votes. As the Washington Post reported, the effort cost Trump more than any remnant of dignity he might have in relation to the election: “Under Wisconsin law, Trump had to pay the bill for the partial recount – which means his campaign only 3 million dollars paid see Biden’s lead. “

Trying to somehow win by reversing the election results is of course no longer the point. Trump threatened to sue for “fraud” in Wisconsin in the coming days, although there was no evidence to support such a claim. The move is likely to fail quickly, as it just did in Pennsylvania. Instead, Trump’s goal could be to further damage American confidence in the electoral system and undermine Joe Biden’s future presidential administration as illegitimate. It’s an effort that Trump and his GOP allies have been quite successful with so far.

It’s really something to hear Trump supporters @jordanklepper explain why Trump didn’t really lose the election.
