Dr. Kerstin Wendt heads Synectics Germany

Synectics has Dr. Kerstin Wendt tasked with managing the growing German business with large public transport companies. Dr. Wendt will be based in Synectics’ new Berlin office as the company brings its German operations closer to key customer locations.

Dr. Wendt joins the Synectics team after 13 years in public transport and traffic engineering. In her new role, she will lead the implementation of the next generation operations management system from Synectics for S-Bahn Berlin (a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn) and manage the relationship with the long-standing underground customer Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG).

Commenting on the appointment, Greg Alcorn, Director Global Sales and Customer Success at Synectics, said: “I am delighted to have Kerstin in the business as we advance strategically important urban transport projects and customers.

“Kerstin is ideally positioned to expand our German business. Her experience in the urban transportation industry and her knowledge of digital technology in transportation enable our customers to maximize their investment in our software solutions.

“At the same time, it will play a key role when we open up new possibilities for the innovative safety and operations management solution that we are implementing for the S-Bahn Berlin as part of the development of the new safety and service center (4S). New collaborative applications for workforce management with interactive mobile features will transform the functionality and range of operation of control rooms in urban traffic. “

Joining Synectics

Dr. Wendt comes from VBB (Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg), where she managed the development of tariffs and digital ticketing for the Berlin-Brandenburg city transport network. Before VBB, Dr. Wendt part of IVU Traffic Technologies and worked on a number of passenger information, fleet management and digital ticketing projects in the DACH region (Austria, Germany and Switzerland).

Dr. Wendt is an active member of the Women in Mobility network and holds an MSc in Computational Science and Engineering and a PhD in High Performance Computing from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain.

The company’s new Berlin office will open in January 2021 in the Kreuzberg district.
