Merry Christmas to everyone!
I know 2020 was a year of disaster with the pandemic and elections, but I wanted to encourage you to be of good cheer.
When everything around us seems to be going in the wrong direction, we need to remember that God has everything under His rule and his second coming cannot be too far away.
That’s what Christmas is all about, after all – celebrating the first coming of Christ while we eagerly await his second. And when we remember what his first coming was all about, it gives us hope:
The people who walked in the dark
have seen a great light;
those who lived in a land of deep darkness,
light shone on them.
For the yoke of his burden
and the staff for his shoulder,
the staff of his oppressor,
you broke like the day of Mid’ian.
For every boot of the trampling warrior in the battle turmoil
and every garment rolled in blood
is burned as fuel for the fire.
A child is born for us
we are given a son;
and the government will be on his shoulder
and his name is mentioned
“Wonderful counselor, mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. “
From the increase of his government and the peace
there will be no end
on the throne of David and above his kingdom
to establish and maintain it
with righteousness and with righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
If you are with your family or alone on this cold Christmas day, take the time to remember that God gave everything He had so that we could be with Him forever. And his greatest gift to us is what we celebrate today, the incarnation of God that man made so that he can save us from our sin and separation.
Glory to God because he really did great things!
