Yeah, Senator-Elect Jon Ossoff sounds damn good

I noticed some people were nervously falling asleep over Democrat Jon Ossoff’s rematch against Republican Senator David Perdue, and it didn’t help that CNN spent most of the night freaking out like they’d never seen a map of Georgia.

Sure, Perdue was ahead for a while, but then the DeKalb County’s votes came to the party.

Ossoff soon took the lead, and my boy won’t let go of it. The race hasn’t officially called up yet, but this shit is over. I know it. You know it. Above all, Dave Wasserman has seen enough.

Perdue and Disney villain Kelly Loeffer are so terrible that you run the risk of seeing Ossoff and Raphael Warnock just as Mitch McConnell hunters, and that’s a mistake. We showed Warnock some love, and now it’s Ossoff’s turn.

The Atlanta native was born in 1987 (!) And will soon replace Josh Hawley as the youngest member of the Senate. While in school he interned for the late, great MP John Lewis and now calls himself the “John Lewis Democrat”. That means he’s ready to get into good trouble. Remember when he called his (alleged) insider trading. COVID-19 profiting opponent a crook in the face?

I want to report a murder. Jon Ossoff kills GOP opponent Perdue in the US Senate debate in Georgia. https://t.co/RL2CrTPSMJ

Lewis personally recommended Rep. Hank Johnson to Ossoff, and Ossoff served in the Congressman’s office for five years. He left the company in 2012 to do a Masters at the London School of Economics. He also runs a London-based company that produces documentaries. Despite his talent, he was faced with the challenge of starting a political career in a formerly deep red state.

In 2017, when Republican Tom Price left home to be more lucrative in the Trump administration, Ossoff took part in the special election to replace him. He lost to Karen Handel, who would lose the seat to the great Lucy McBath the next year.

After the loss of the special elections, there was skepticism that Ossoff could remove David Perdue, who had spoken with Democrat Michelle Nunn in 2014. Nunn was the daughter of former Democratic Senator Sam Nunn. Like Warnock, Ossoff was not related to a successful politician. It turned out that voters cared more about the actual candidate.

Ossoff ran a disciplined, wise campaign. This was in sharp contrast to Perdue, who could only offer the Georgians his personal devotion to Donald Trump. Perdue’s campaign wasn’t as overtly racist as Loeffler’s, which would have required wearing a Klan hood, but he ran a grotesque ad that artificially (and obviously) enlarged Ossoff’s nose. Ossoff is Jewish, and the big nosepos also linked him to Senate chairman (soon-to-be majority), Chuck Schumer, who was accused of trying to “buy” Georgia.

Perdue refused to show up for further debate after wearing his public pants before the election. He suspected he might drive to victory in the runoff election while sitting back, yelling about socialism and demanding the resignation of Georgia’s Republican Foreign Minister. (The latter was probably more of Trump’s plan than the Perdue campaign.)

This resulted in Ossoff debating over an empty lectern, and while the lectern did better than Perdue in the previous debate, it was nonetheless an embarrassing feat. Let’s see it again.

It’s true that Ossoff left Warnock behind, but as lousy as Perdue is, he actually won an election at some point. He also had a pre-Trump political career, and voters knew him as more than just a pointless capo for President Mob Boss. Warnock’s relative strength is good because he will face the electorate again in 2022. Ossoff will have a full six-year term.

Ossoff and Warnock ran as a team, and Ossoff had Warnock’s back when Loeffler tried to smear him as anti-Israel and thus anti-Semitic. He also dropped the microphone when a Fox News reporter asked him about other random lies about Warnock.

OSSOFF: She bends over to these vicious personal attacks to distract from the fact that she was fighting with a former member of the Ku Klux Klan. I mean, we deserve better here in Georgia.

Loeffler was actually photographed with a white supremacist. Ossoff also repeated the line “Kelly Loeffler fought a Klansman,” which would make a great sample riff in a hip-hop song.

FOX News was live and I really appreciated the free airtime! Kelly Loeffler also fought with a clan … https://t.co/ykLyxFXp92
