REPORT: The GOP representatives Gohmert, Brooks and Gaetz could face criticism next week

Fox News’ Chad Pergram reports that House GOP reps Louie Gohmert, Mo Brook and possibly Matt Gaetz could face criticism next week:

1) Senior Democratic lawmakers urge Fox to await a no-confidence decision for MPs Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Mo Brooks (R-AL) in the House of Representatives in the coming days. Fox is told there could be ramifications for Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as well.

However, we have no details of what would be included in the censure resolution:

2) Fox has not yet received a decision on the prospective discipline. Nor is Fox aware of what the specific grievances would be if the House were to consider sanctions on these members.

The house has three formal types of discipline: reprimand, reprimand, and expulsion.

Criticism is a rarely used method of discipline for members of the House of Representatives, but it only takes a simple majority, which Dems certainly has:

3) The house has only censored 23 members in its history. The last was former MP Charlie Rangel (D-NY) in 2010. Expulsion requires a two-thirds vote. The House has only expelled five members in history. However, reprimand and reprimand require a simple majority.
