Trump is packing his bags, but partisan media are here to stay

As leaders of the anti-Trump “resistance,” America’s major newspapers, magazines, networks and liberal cable news abandoned journalistic principles to become propaganda weapons of the Democratic Party and the activist left. They have tossed aside their historic commitment to open inquiry and fairness to protect Democrats, portraying Donald Trump as a traitor and his supporters as white supremacists.

A free press is essential to the functioning of a democratic republic. It is a key channel for the free exchange and testing of ideas. With mainstream media abandoning that role, while advancing some narratives regardless of their mistakes and delegitimizing others regardless of their merits, it’s not surprising that the repeal culture and anti-conservative censorship is flourishing on social media. Intimidation, coercion, and punishment have always been the tools of choice to silence dissent and destroy freedom.

Media bias is also a major contributor to the anger that drives national sentiment. For progressives who are increasingly losing their ability to see the world regardless of political outcomes, this reporting defines Republicans as an immoral enemy to be destroyed.

For conservatives, this barrage of delusion about themselves and those who support them is nothing less than an assault on their sanity as they are continually told what they see, hear and understand, what is wrong, ugly and dangerous. It is literally insane.

It’s not a one-way street. Conservative news outlets also spread falsehoods and demonize progressives, but they do not control national discourse.

The most recent example of media abuse is the coverage of the criminal mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol last week believing the 2020 elections were fraudulent. This was an isolated incident of violence by a small group of Trump supporters widely condemned by Democrats and republican who have duly requested that the perpetrators be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Still, the media, finally having an example to support their pet story that Conservatives pose a clear and present threat to the Republic, has inflated the threat while suggesting that the vandals represent all Trump voters. Hence the claim that the mob was orchestrate a coup. Whatever their intention, this ragged crew would never overthrow our constitutional government. However, such basic common sense is irrelevant to a medium who just wants to earn points for its side.

However, this violence did not arise out of nowhere. What follows is at least a decade of sustained efforts by progressives to challenge election results through direct action – beginning with the Acquired the Wisconsin Statehouse in 2011 and the Moral Monday protests These angry but peaceful protests grew into Black Lives Matter and Antifa-led riots that began last spring and have resulted in multiple billions in deaths and property damage.

The mainstream media and top Democrats have downplayed and celebrated this violence Lawbreaker. Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris encouraged her supporters to contribute to bail for those arrested in connection with the arrest Arson and looting that devastated Minneapolis.

Echoed incorrect reporting in the mainstream media, President-elect Joe Biden lit the flames the partition last week when he smeared the U.S. Capitol Police as racist by claiming, without evidence, that they were gentle on the crowd because they were white. “Nobody can tell me,” Biden said on Jan. 7, “if that had been a group of Black Lives Matter protests yesterday, they would have been treated very, very differently from the crowd of thugs who stormed the Capitol . “

Never mind the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, or to have them fatally shot unarmed woman. And it doesn’t matter that the law enforcement authorities’ response to the summer protests has been largely restrained. BLM protesters were allowed to march through the streets and intimidate their fellow citizens with impunity in DC and elsewhere and too illegally occupy entire districts. The facts don’t matter unless they’re narrative.

Democrats argue that attacking the U.S. Capitol is worse than looting stores and setting fire to police stations in America’s cities. Maybe yes, but both are beyond the pale. With many Republicans still questioning the 2020 election results, the media and Democrats claim that such questions threaten our democracy. The memory hole is the fact that the same people claimed for four years that President Trump worked with the Russians to steal the 2016 race. Said Biden, “I totally agree,” after a woman called Trump an “illegitimate president” last year.

Biden also joined Harris and other top Democrats to help claim this Stacey Abrams was robbed of victory in the Georgia Governor’s race in 2018 by Republican cunning. Instead of punishing Abrams for fueling conspiracy theories, the media portrays them as an advocate of justice.

Failure to address these issues and thereby contextualize the horrific violence of the past week is journalistic misconduct. Rather than investigate the idea of Trump supporters taking a page out of the progressive playbook, our major news outlets portray the violence as evidence of the GOP’s uniquely dark soul.

This duplication has become normal business operations in these branches. While Trump expressly condemned neo-Nazis and white supremacists at its press conference in Charlottesville (and on countless other occasions) the mainstream press – and Joe Biden – insisted he didn’t.

During the 2020 campaign, the press helped Biden advance the false claim that information was found on his son Hunter’s laptop “Russian Disinformation” although the candidate himself did not provide any evidence to support this strange claim or even denied the accuracy of the information found on it.

The same press corps that reported uncritically about unsubstantiated and often wild sexual assault accusations Brett Kavanaugh worked on it against the Supreme Court candidate undermine Tara Reade’s recent allegations against Biden.

Many people hope that after defeating Trump, the mainstream media will get their ship back on track and revert to the best values of journalism. That is wishful thinking. The evidence shows that it has taken on a partisan role. The editors and reporters of the leading news organizations in our country believe that there is one truth – and it is theirs.

Our democracy dies in this darkness.
