Manchin in the middle

“If the Democrats eliminate the filibuster, there will be a senator who would have an overwhelming influence in the 50:50 chamber on issues that could change the future of the nation: infrastructure, immigration, gun laws, and voting rights. That senator is Joe Manchin III of West Virginia, ”reports the New York Times.
“There is also a senator whose opposition to the elimination of the filibuster is a major reason why this may never happen. That senator is also Mr. Manchin. “
Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) said, “He should want to get rid of the filibuster because suddenly he’s becoming the most powerful person in this place – he’s the 50th vote on everything.”
