An investigation into MP Matt Gaetz and possible crimes related to underage sex trafficking and prostitution began under the Trump Administration and Justice Department by William Barr. Gaetz yells “witch hunt”, a tired line from the Trump playbook, because he evaded responsibility for misconduct. Evidence is being gathered through an investigation into Joel Greenberg, a local Florida politician and friend of Gaetz who is in jail for sex trafficking, bribery, stalking and embezzlement. Both Greenberg and Gaetz are suspected of contacting women from “Sugar Daddy” websites where women search for men who can give them money and gifts for sex.
Gaetz is unpopular among his colleagues because he inappropriately brags about sexual conquests and shows nude photos of women on the floor of the house. Gaetz exhibits traits that are similar to narcissistic, misogynistic men, such as a grandiose sense of their attraction to women, general aggressiveness, arrogance, and a hunger for power and attention. Short messages Mr. Gaetz! You are not the Lady Magnet that you imagine! He denies all claims against him, becomes a lawyer and refuses to resign. Like Trump, Gaetz and countless other men charged or guilty of sexual aggression against women claim their innocence while their patterns suggest guilt.
Gaetz is a younger version of Trump on many levels. His social personality depends heavily on the sexual conquests of women. Trump bragged Access Hollywood for “grabbing women by the pussy”. During an interview with Howard Stern, he also admitted that he routinely entered the dressing areas at his beauty pageants to see how the contestants dressed. Unidentified congressmen revealed that Gaetz showed nude photos of women he had sex with and he committed this dirty behavior on the floor of the house. Like Trump, Gaetz travels in a circle with men who are known for criminal behavior or low character and increased sexualization of women.
There is more organized Republican opposition to Trump and his clones like Gaetz than organized Democratic opposition. Traditional Republican groups such as the Lincoln Project, Real Americans, and the Republican Action Pact have campaigned to bring Republican voters back to the conservative values of the traditional GOP. What is missing, in contrast to politicians like Gaetz, is a republican resistance movement in Congress. Congressman Liz Cheney, former Ohio Governor John Kasich, Senator Mitt Romney, Senator Ben Sasse and MP Adam Kinzinger have spoken out publicly against the white supremacists Qanon, their party’s disinformation Trump wing, but no competitive movement has been formulated enough to mute the toxic message of Trumpism. Perhaps they need to hire a professional Brander to bring the base back to sense and true patriotism.
